Environmental protection

Responsible attitude to the environment is of strategic priority for Poliom LLC for which the plant invests significant funds and puts efforts.

The company uses the European environmentally friendly Spheripol technology by LyondellBasell Industries (Netherlands) that is included in the list of the best available technologies.

The plant has implemented international standards for environmental management and energy management systems ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, according to which Poliom systematically reduces the environmental load and continuously modernizes equipment and technological processes.

An independent accredited laboratory conducts regular monitoring of environmental components at the production site of Poliom LLC and in the adjacent areas. The experts confirm compliance of the plant's activities with the established standards in the field of environmental protection.

The Omsk Polypropylene Plant is continuously working to reduce the impact on environment in pursuance of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No.204 dated May 7, 2018 "On national aims and strategic objectives for the development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024". The document provides for the implementation of comprehensive action plans to reduce atmospheric pollutant emissions in the large industrial centers, including Omsk, within the framework of the national project "Environment".

According to the comprehensive action plan to reduce atmospheric pollutant emissions in Omsk, approved by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation on December 28, 2018, the company is implementing a major investment project, namely the construction of hydrocarbon gas recovery and compression units. Due to this fact, the plant has already reduced the total amount of recovered gases by 30%.

In February, 2019, Poliom entered into an environmental partnership agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Omsk region. The document determines the procedure to improve the environmental situation in the region, public control of the actual production processes at the industrial sites and interaction with the Center for Environmental Monitoring and Rapid Response of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Poliom was the first in the Omsk region to implement the practice of waste sorting in May, 2017. The scrap metal, cardboard, wood, polymer industrial waste are separately collated at the plant and transferred for further processing to the specialized companies.

The plant employees regularly submit rationalization proposals aimed at saving resources and greening production processes, take part in the volunteer initiatives for environmental protection and citywide community cleanups.
